Pinprick — Lenzart Space
Pinprick was founded in Eskişehir in 2021 as an interdisciplinary art and design studio by artist and interior architect Hayrettin Taşkaya and art historian and embroidery artist İsmail Dönmez. Working collaboratively, the duo brings together their practices from different fields. Through punch needle and traditional techniques, they aim to revive craft, handwork, and traditional modes of production while creating collaborative works that draw their conceptual and visual coherence from the subjects they explore and the contemporary world. Their subjects include shared codes found in the cosmogonies, myths, and narratives of local and foreign cultures; esoteric stories; symbols; socio-cultural issues; gender; and shared stories of life, such as individual and collective existence. Amid today's bombardment of images, they reflect on problematic issues that need to be questioned in a chaotic universe where we are beginning to lose touch with our humanity. Using a mythical language, they translate these concerns into works produced through punch needle and traditional techniques. They also exhibit their works in digital, imaginary spaces created using computer-based tools.
